I was born in Fort Bliss, Texas ( El Paso) to a military family. My father was a career Army officer who earned his degree at West Point Military Academy. We moved many times throughout his career and Mom always helped the family feel like each move was an adventure with new experiences to explore.

My degree was a BA in Chemistry from Baylor University and then on to the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio for my medical degree. I chose orthopedic surgery as I have always enjoyed recreational sports and building things. I found orthopedics to be a good fit that allowed me to help people return to activities after injury or who had arthritis related functional limitations.

I settled in Fort Collins after my five year residency in general surgery and orthopedics in Oklahoma City at the University Health Science Center and VA Hospital. I started with one employee and feel very fortunate and grateful to have the practice of NCOA we have today at Harmony Campus.

I began practicing orthopedics and sports medicine in Fort Collins and Loveland including the entire spectrum of care in 1985. My hospital practice included PVH and McKee Medical Center. As my practice grew I found my special interest and love for treatment of knee problems and arthritis. Other interests include educating people about the importance of maintaining excellent bone health and treatment of osteoporosis as well as care of the maturing athlete. Special interests include study of healthy nutrition, and exercise for longevity and strength.

Effective June 2017 I have transitioned to a non-operative practice. I will continue to evaluate and treat knee arthritis including counseling regarding options and also injection treatments. Additionally I am now able to devote more time to the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. As a bone doctor I am uniquely qualified to be a resource to patients to assist them in fracture prevention and wellness. I am passionate about helping people maintain their good health and independence.

Married since 1991 to my wonderful husband, Greg, we are the proud parents of two rescue Beagles, Opie and Cleo. We feel strongly that animals bring much joy into our lives and are strong supporters of animal rescue groups.

I am grateful to live in beautiful Colorado. I love gardening, cycling, hiking, and of course playing with the beagles! I thank God for each new day and for my many blessings.
